What I do ...
We have a series of 'conversations', one-to-one, in a neutral environment (it could be a local coffee shop), I listen and I ask you questions!
I help you:
- find order from the chaos.
- become more comfortable with confusion and uncertainty.
- confront your fears.
I do act as a catalyst to achieving the changes you want to make.
I do look to unlock your hidden potential, tucked away until it is needed.
I don't give answers and I don't do action plans.
How I Help
It is important to understand how I operate; I have a particular style. Perhaps it would help if you read this first-hand experience.
Case Study (JH, 2015):
Initial Contact.
I had a preliminary phone conversation with Ian, after a friend suggested that I could benefit from his services. I was quite nervous approaching someone unknown to me in this fashion but I need not have worried. Ian was friendly and easy to talk to when he outlined the shape and nature of a possible first meeting.
First Session (2hrs).
I was tentative at our first meeting; worried about the topics we’d cover & where they’d go, payment, would I get anything out of it and would it be worth it? Again I need not have worried. Ian was approachable, open and an excellent listener. In fact the first sessions went by in the blink of an eye with Ian offering several incisive & very thought provoking comments…. at times leaving me spinning. Not as much as how Ian closed the first one on one.
Ian’s final statement was …”I only want payment if you think you got something out of this – to which end I don’t want you to take any action for 48 hours”. He continued ”.... then think about whether and what you wish to pay me, and whether you wish to meet again and how long that would be and how often”?
Now my head was spinning! Positively reeling!
As the next 48 hours ensued I wrestled, pondered and attempted to get a handle on what had exactly happened in that first meeting…replaying conversations and re-listening to Ian’s chosen contributions.
Then, (some 48 hrs later) BOOM!
My thoroughly uncertain position pivoted. An unlocking, a clarity and general euphoria … resulting in immediate full payment and timetable of next and subsequent sessions, with a burning desire to repeat this process.
Sessions thereafter.
Ian and I met for a year, starting with an hour a month. Like any relationship, trust builds between both parties and so does his processes. Ian’s caring and genteel approach makes sessions effortless, belying the true work that was being done.
Final Thoughts.
I understand (having been there very recently) how daunting and intimidating it is to reach out to an unknown person, with little knowledge of what you are getting into and WHY? …but then, that’s for you and Ian to work out!
To answer such subjective questions as: does it work? Is he good? Is he worth it?
Well…. He was for me!
As the quote goes …. ”try it – you might like it”!
